India can take tough economic decisions against China. There will be strictness regarding the sugar project. Projects in which Chinese companies have secured agreements can be canceled. These include the Meerut Rapid Rail project, whose bid has been received by the Chinese company.
It is being told that after the dispute on the China border, the Government of India has started reviewing those projects, which have been given to Chinese companies. It also has Delhi-Meerut RRTS project. All the legal aspects are being looked into by the government to cancel the bid. It is believed that the government can cancel this bid.
What is Delhi-Meerut RRTS Project
Semi high speed rail corridor to be built between Delhi-Meerut. Delhi, Ghaziabad will connect Meerut with this project. The 82.15 km long RRTS will have 68.03 km of elevated and 14.12 km of underground. Those going to Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh will be especially benefited from this project.
Why is there a ruckus
The lowest amount bid has been bid by Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Company Limited (STEC), a Chinese company, to construct the underground stretch of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project. STEC had bid for Rs 1126 crore. The Swadeshi Jagran Manch, including the opposition, is opposing the stretch of work given to the Chinese company.
Five companies had bid
Under the Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor, 5.6 km underground section is to be constructed between New Ashok Nagar to Sahibabad. Five companies had bid for this. Chinese company STEC bid the lowest at Rs 1,126 crore. Indian company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) bid for Rs 1,170 crore.
